Programs to Assist Childcare Providers
Childhood Injury Prevention Program
Works with parents and caregivers to reduce the risk of injury and death to children ages newborn to 18. Our programs are open to anyone who lives in Franklin County covering car seat safety, bike safety, and home safety.
Communicable Disease Training for Childcare Centers
6-hour Communicable Disease training, 3-hour refresher course, and 3-hour beginner course. Ohio Department of Job & Family Services requires all licensed child care centers and Type A Homes to have at least one person on site who has completed the 6-hour training. A 3-hour refresher course is required every 3 years.
Healthy Children/Health Weights
Program designed for use in childcare, preschools, and other early learning settings to help educators and parents prevent childhood overweight by promoting healthy weight habits in children from birth to kindergarten. Run by a licensed dietitian, the program offers training, menu/snacks review and guidance, technical assistance and educational campaign.
Healthy Homes Program
Helps protect you and your children from household dangers such as lead poisoning, asthma and allergy control, hazardous product storage, indoor air quality, mold, pests and pesticides. This program is for eligible residents in Columbus and Worthington.
Home Childcare Inspection Program
Working together with Action For Children and Children's Hunger Alliance, this program conducts the inspection of childcare homes to insure all homes are safe for children to live and play.
