Community Garden Celebration to be held on 45th Anniversary of Earth Day at Franklin Park Conservatory
Awards to 34 Gardens including 6 Brand New Ones to be Announced 

WHAT:           Current and past grant recipients are invited to join the City of Columbus, Franklin County, ScottsMiracle-Gro, community partners and residents on Earth Day, Wednesday April 22, 2015, to celebrate the community garden movement in central Ohio. The event will take place at the ScottsMiracle-Gro Community Garden Campus at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Paula Brooks, Franklin County Commissioner, Priscilla Tyson, Columbus City Council Member, Michelle Mills,  Columbus City Council President Pro-Tem; Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Teresa Long, Bruce Harkey, Franklin Park Conservatory Executive Director; Su Lok, Scotts Miracle-Gro Company; and Linden Garden Association (Three Sisters Garden)

DETAILS:      
The City of Columbus and Franklin County in cooperation with Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens and the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company will announce grant funding for 34 gardens during an Earth Day program at Franklin Park Conservatory. 

The collaborative program, now in its fifth year, recognizes the benefits of community gardens, and supports new and existing gardens in the City of Columbus and throughout Franklin County.

Grant recipients will be announced in a program beginning at 10:30 am
