Vaccines Students Need

Required Shots

Ohio law requires students to have certain shots at certain grades. Why? Shots, also called vaccinations or immunizations, protect children from serious illness, complications and even death. They also prevent teachers and other students from getting sick, so requiring these shots helps keep everyone safe.

Recommended Shots
Recommended shots aren't required by state law for kids to go to school, but they still offer important protection

These shots can help protect our children from illnesses such as the flu. Many think the flu is mild, but it actually can cause severe health problems, including death. These recommended shots can also protect our children from certain forms of cancer.
