Columbus City Council is Ready to Help Kick Some Butt!
City
of Columbus and Community Partners Clean Cigarette Litter During 8th
Annual KickButtColumbus!
This
Saturday, March 19, 2016, Columbus City Councilmembers Elizabeth Brown and Michael Stinziano will join more than 500
hundred volunteers at 9:30am, at the Westgate Park Shelter House, 455
S. Westgate Ave., to launch the 8th annual KickButtColumbus program! Music
provided by BeatSquad.
The
dynamic Highway Ramp Cleanup event focuses on cleaning cigarette and other
litter from 39 interchange locations along I-70; I-71; I-670; SR-315; and
SR-104. The program ends at 2pm.
During
the 2015 KickButtColumbus cleanup, 480 volunteers collected 165,643
cigarette butts, 1,020 bags equaling 30,600 pounds of litter and 224 bags
amounting to 6,720 pounds of recyclables from 158 freeway entrance and exit
ramps.
The
annual event is organized by Keep Columbus Beautiful, a community
improvement program within the Department of Public Service, and a committee of
community partners:
