1777 East Broad Street
What:
Councilmember
Elizabeth Brown, chair of the Environment Committee, is convening a
hearing on a proposed city ordinance to remove milkweed from the City of
Columbus’ list of prohibited noxious weeds. There is a national movement to
promote the cultivation of milkweed due to it being the only plant where
monarch butterflies lay their eggs.
Approximately
75 percent of plant species rely on pollinators like the monarch butterfly to
reproduce and form the foundation which supports local ecosystems and
biodiversity.
