Council Hosts Housing and Eviction Workshops
In
Franklin County, nearly 18,000 eviction notices are filed each year making the
eviction court the busiest in the state. Staggering statistics, such as this,
led Councilmember Jaiza Page to prioritize affordable housing
and keeping families in their homes.
To
help provide resources for residents, Councilmember Page, The Legal Aid
Society of Columbus and Columbus Next Generation are hosting workshops to
discuss information and assistance on housing and evictions.
“Education
is vital to help tenants understand their rights and responsibilities. These
workshops will help prevent families from losing their homes,” said Page.
Topics
covered include:
- Eviction notices
- Available rental assistance program(s)
- Tenant rights
- Landlord responsibilities
- Escrow services
Seating
is limited to the first 25 registrations and must be reserved one week
