President Pro Tem Stinziano Awarded for Community Engagement

[COLUMBUS, Ohio]
 — Celebrating strong community and neighborhood relationships, Columbus City Council President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano received the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) 2018 Friendship Award for his work with and for Columbus' Greek community.

“I thank AHEPA, whose work continues to promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, integrity, family and individual excellence though community service and volunteerism,” said Stinziano. “I look forward to continuing to work together as we help promote our neighborhoods and grow our great City.”

Council President Pro Tem Stinziano was presented the award at the 2018 AHEPA Midwestern Regional Banquet held at the Ohio State House on March 17, 2018. The gala serves as a culmination of the organization’s storied history and dedication to its bright future.

“We are focused on celebrating the furtherance of Hellenic Ideals and the vibrancy of the Greek-American populace in our City,” he continued.

AHEPA was founded in 1922 to create an awareness of the principles of Hellenism to society and recognize Greece as the birthplace of democracy. Hellenic principles include a commitment to humanity, freedom and democracy. The Greek Community celebrates Greek Independence Day annually on March 25.
