President Pro Tem Stinziano Awarded for Community Engagement
[COLUMBUS,
Ohio] —
Celebrating strong community and neighborhood relationships, Columbus City
Council President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano received the American
Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) 2018 Friendship Award for
his work with and for Columbus' Greek community.
“I
thank AHEPA, whose work continues to promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of
education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, integrity, family and individual
excellence though community service and volunteerism,” said Stinziano. “I look
forward to continuing to work together as we help promote our neighborhoods and
grow our great City.”
Council
President Pro Tem Stinziano was presented the award at the 2018 AHEPA
Midwestern Regional Banquet held at the Ohio State House on March 17, 2018. The
gala serves as a culmination of the organization’s storied history and dedication
to its bright future.
“We
are focused on celebrating the furtherance of Hellenic Ideals and the vibrancy
of the Greek-American populace in our City,” he continued.
AHEPA
was founded in 1922 to create an awareness of the principles of Hellenism to
society and recognize Greece as the birthplace of democracy. Hellenic
principles include a commitment to humanity, freedom and democracy. The Greek
Community celebrates Greek Independence Day annually on March 25.
