FutureReady Columbus Board Names Longtime School Administrator New Executive Director
On Thursday, March 22, the FutureReady Board of Directors named Jane D. Leach as the new Executive Director of the organization. She replaces the organization’s inaugural leader, Dr. Lillian Lowery, who left FutureReady in March 2017. Leach was chosen after a thorough and deliberative search process.
“I have no doubt that with Jane at the helm, FutureReady will develop and carry out our community’s vision for a comprehensive birth to five early learning and wellness strategy,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, FutureReady Board Co-Chair. “Jane’s knowledge and passion for this work is well known in the community. She is a respected leader. “
Leach, following in the footsteps of her late father, former Columbus City (Public) Schools Superintendent Joseph L. Davis, served as both a teacher and principal with the District for nearly 20 years. Most recently Leach served as an Administrator with Hilliard City Schools. During the last year, she chaired the Mayor’s Hilltop Early Childhood Partnership, with the goal of doubling the number of Hilltop children enrolled in quality early learning programs by 2020. She also founded Hilltop Preschool in 2007 to help prepare Hilltop’s most disadvantaged children for kindergarten.
“In Jane Leach we have found an educator experienced in public school systems with a deep knowledge of early childhood education, the primary focus of FutureReady Columbus,” said FutureReady Board Co-Chair George Barrett, Chairman of the Board at Cardinal Health. “Jane is experienced in building and leading teams of educators and also in the build-out of an organization in its formative years. She is trusted in our community and is passionate about creating opportunities for our children. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her lead the important work of FutureReady Columbus.”
Leach is a Columbus native and a graduate of Whetstone High School. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from The Ohio State University. Leach has received numerous awards including the Community Involvement Award from Columbus City Schools and The Young Educator Award from her Alma Mater.
“I appreciate this opportunity to tackle these issues that are so important,” Leach said. “I am excited to work with the Mayor, Board, the rest of the FutureReady team, and our community to develop this critical strategy.”
