Council President Hardin Decries Partisan Supreme Court Decision Eroding Cornerstones of Middle Class America
Columbus
City Council President Shannon Hardin today issued the following statement
regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decision impacting public sector unions:
“Today’s
overtly partisan decision will further erode the important work of organized
labor representing millions of American workers,” said Council President
Hardin. “Unions matter - representing our police officers, firefighters, snow
plow drivers and almost every other function in local government. Labor stands
up for the working class, helping families rise up into the middle class,
protecting a fair wage for hard work, jobsite safety, benefits like health
insurance for families, and the opportunity for millions of workers to learn
trades and build careers in public service. While the Court recognized
corporations as people and allowed dark money contributions into campaigns,
they are failing to recognize the actual hard-working people who are organizing
for a better America.
