Olentangy River Road 24 inch Water Main (Phase 1)
This project will replace a section of 20-inch water main that runs along Olentangy River Road with a new 24-inch water main. Phase 1 (this phase) will be from a point approximately 100 feet north of Borror Drive to Old Ackerman Road. Additional phases will replace the water main from Ackerman to a point just south of Garrett Drive. This project area is located in the West Olentangy planning area. (see accompanying map). The goal of this project is to replace the existing water main that has a high break frequency. Replacement of this water main is critical to delivering water to the northwest section of the distribution system and will improve water service while decreasing the burden on water maintenance operations.
The project will include approximately 3,400 linear feet of new 24-inch water main which will replace the existing 66 year old 20-inch water main. Along with the installation of the new water main, the project will also include water service transfers. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2019.
Prior to construction, the Neighborhood Liaisons will be contacted and informed of the project. Further community outreach may result though the Neighborhood Liaison Program. Notification letters will also be mailed out in advance to residents located in the project area. These letters will provide detailed information regarding the project and important contact numbers.
Division of Water plans to fund this project with a below market-rate loan through the Ohio EPA’s Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) Program. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Water to determine the project’s eligibility for the program.
The Ohio EPA has completed a Limited Environmental Review (LER) for this project. View the LER and letter of "Notice of Issuance of a Limited Environmental Review and Final Finding of No Significant Impact to All Interested Citizens, Organizations and Government Agencies."
