Council Cleaning the Table of Old Ordinances

[COLUMBUS-OH]  At the request of the City Clerk, City Council’s team spent the past few months “cleaning the table,” analyzing long-tabled ordinances that were never enacted, some going back as far as 2003. Council’s Legislative Research Office worked with the City Clerk and the Administration of Mayor Andrew Ginther to carry out a review of all tabled items, including zoning requests.

“This is simply good governance,” said Council President Shannon Hardin. “These 40 ordinances were found lingering in the system, and we felt it was past time to clean the slate as we prepare for 2019.”

There are 26 zoning and 14 regular ordinances to be removed from the table. Council will defeat the legislation as a group during the November 19 meeting in the Rules and Reference and Zoning committees.

“We appreciate the work that Mike Kasler on our Legislative Research staff did with Clerk Angie Blevins during this review,” Hardin concluded.
