Generations of Art: The Sunami Family
For more than one hundred years, the Sunami family has been involved in creating art. Soichi Sunami was born in Okayama, Japan, in 1887 and came to the United States in 1907. Working at the Museum of Modern Art, he became famous both as a photographer of modern dance and as a photographer of art. His son, John Sunami, is an artist living and working in Columbus where he is known for his paintings and sculpture. John’s children, Jennifer, Christopher and Christopher’s wife, April, carry on the artistic tradition in music, word, design and multi-media creations.
