Susan Basso

Susan Basso joined the Ohio State University in September 2017 as the Senior Vice President for Talent, Culture and Human Resources reporting directly to the President. In her role, Susan is responsible for providing executive leadership across all human resource organizations at the University and the Wexner Medical Center. 

Prior to joining Ohio State, Susan served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at the Pennsylvania State University since 2010. Before serving as the Chief HR Officer at Seton Hall University, Susan was the Chief HR Officer at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. 

Susan has held leadership roles in multiple professional organizations, including the local and regional level of CUPA-HR and received their “Emerging Leader” award in 2007.  She is a past president and current secretary of the ARU-HR Institute. She served three years on TIAA’s National Advisory Council.  Susan is a member of the ADVANCE Advisory Board, focused on the recruitment and retention of diverse women, especially in the STEMM disciplines and a member of the OSU Health Plan Board.

She has served in various volunteer roles for not-for-profits, including Women’s Resources, Head Start, and Salvation Army. Susan has her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor concentration in Business Administration and Finance from Ursinus College and her Master’s degree in Human Resources Administration from the University of Scranton.
