City of Columbus to Assist Non-English Speaking Residents With City Income Tax Preparation
In collaboration with the Department of Neighborhoods, the Columbus Division of Income Tax is assisting non-English speaking residents with income tax preparation. Instructions for Form IR-25 have been translated into five languages: Arabic, French, Nepali, Somali and Spanish. In addition, staff in the Division of Income Tax will help any Columbus residents who need assistance filing their City returns free of charge.
“We pride ourselves on the outstanding customer service we offer to Columbus residents, businesses and workers,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “I am proud of the City Auditor’s Office and our Department of Neighborhoods for this work.”
“Our city’s population is growing more and more diverse each day. Using translation services to better meet the needs of our residents is more than social responsibility, it’s good for business and good for our city,” said City Auditor Megan Kilgore.
The Division of Income Tax is located at 77 North Front Street. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Translation services will be available in mid-to late-March by appointment only. Details will be posted on website listed below.
The filing deadline for City of Columbus income tax returns is April 15, 2019. All City tax forms, instructions, and updates are available at https://www.columbus.gov/IncomeTaxDivision/
