Neighborhood Pride in 2018

Neighborhood Pride in 2018

In 2018, the Neighborhood Pride Program reached a significant milestone when the 100th neighborhood completed the program. The 2018 Pride Neighborhoods were Georgian Heights, Pinecrest/Beechwood, Schumacher Place, and Strawberry Farms neighborhoods. Starting in May and ending in September, each area played host to a Neighborhood Pride Week hosted in a temporary Neighborhood Pride Center.

During Neighborhood Pride Week, there are “Lunch and Learns” and evening activities including Mobility Monday, Neighborhood Safety Academy, a Community Walking tour and Mayor’s Community Night.  During the week, The Mobile City Hall will be set up at the Pride Center location to help residents file 311 complaints and learn how to apply for City of Columbus jobs.

Over the course of the year, the Neighborhood Pride team interacted and engaged with over 1,300 residents, completed 5 bike safety festivals and distributed and fit bicycle helmets for over 2,300 students. Students were also engaged in the 13th annual Talent Show, where 27 students from 5 different middle schools showed off their unique talents.

Mobile City Hall continued its tradition of engaging with residents on the move and was present at 6 City of Columbus festivals,  3 parades, and many over community events. Overall, Mobile City Hall engaged with more than 6,000 residents.

From cooking demonstrations by Local Matters to providing legal assistance workshops in partnership with the Legal Aid Society of Columbus, the 2018 Neighbborhood Pride Program was a demonstration of the power of community. Thank you Georgian Heights, Pinecrest/Beechwood, Schumacher Place, and Strawberry Farms, and all of the residents that participated in Neighborhood Pride events for a successful 2018.
