Portage Grove Area Sanitary Sewer

The City will provide new sanitary sewer service to a defined residential area that is currently served by on-lot home septic tank systems (HSTS). This project will extend existing sanitary sewers and provide a new residential sanitary service tap for 67 existing homes which are served by home septic treatment systems (HSTS) in the Protage Grove subdivision and along Godown and West Case roads. 

The project site encompasses work along West Case Road from Godown to between Moorgate Dr and Preston Woods Dr,  Godown Road from West Case to Smallwood Dr, Northport Drive from Godown to Millington rd, Northport Circle, Portage Drive, Southport Circle, and Southport Drive.  View a map(PDF, 740KB) of the project area.

A public meeting was held with area residents on April 11 2018. During construction, the contractor will be required to maintain local access for residents.

The project will be advertised for bid in 2019 and the City will issue the Notice to Proceed in 2020, pending final approval from OEPA. The project is due to be completed in 2021. Existing traffic patterns on Godown and West Case will be impacted and will be coordinated with Paving the Way.

Financing for this project is being provided by a below-market rate loan obtained through the OEPA’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) and the debt is being serviced through the City of Columbus sanitary sewer user fees.
