Short North Mobile Pay Parking Update Takes Effect on Oct. 7
Evening rate will average a decrease; daytime mobile pay
only and meter rates won’t change
Effective
Monday, Oct. 7, evening hourly parking rate updates begin in the Short North’s
mobile pay only zones that create an average 10-cent decrease.
Rates in these
side street mobile pay only zones will decrease or increase by 25 cents to 50
cents per hour from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. based on a zone’s average on-street
parking occupancy data. The updates do not affect the existing rate of $1 per
hour from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the mobile pay only zones or rates at all Short
North parking meters. The meter rates remain at $1 per hour from 8 a.m. to 4
p.m. and $2 per hour from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“Our aim is to
reduce congestion while increasing mobility options in this wonderful Arts
District. I am proud that the Division of Parking Services is providing
accessible, equitable and predictable mobility and parking options for all
residents, guests and visitors,” said Jennifer Gallagher, Director of the
Department of Public Service.
“To benefit all
users, the Division of Parking Services continues to update the Short North
Parking Plan by appropriately setting rates based on parking demand,” said
Robert Ferrin, Assistant Director of Parking Services. “Our pledge remains
strong to regularly evaluate Short North parking data and community feedback to
enhance accessible, efficient parking in the district.”
The mobile pay
only zones rate update is one of a series of routine adjustments Parking
Services may make in its commitment to consistently review the Short North
Parking Plan’s performance.
The update is
based on the division’s regulations governing rate adjustments and follows
interim changes made in June to respond to the need to increase parking demand
for daytime business parking.

p.m. to 10 p.m. changes by zone that take effect on Oct. 7 can be viewed on this map.
