Rumpke to Pick Up Holiday Trees at Curbside
The Department
of Public Service reminds Columbus residents that after the holiday festivities
are over and decorations are packed away for another year, Rumpke will pick up
holiday trees free of charge at the curb.
Pickup will
occur on residents’ regular yard waste collection day. Under the citywide
biweekly recycling program, yard waste and recycling are collected on the same
day every other week.
Tips for
disposing of holidays trees in Columbus include:
- Remove
lights, ornaments, tinsel and all other decorations from the tree.
- Place
the tree curbside by 6 a.m. on your yard waste collection day. Residents can go
online at http://311.columbus.gov/colorday/
or call (614) 645-3111 to identify their yard waste collection day.
- If
your tree is eight feet tall or more, cut the tree in half so it is a
manageable size to fit in the yard waste truck.
- Trees in
plastic bags will not be collected.
In partnership
with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, Columbus residents may also
dispose of their holiday trees at any of these free yard waste drop-off
