Dr. Beverly Stallings-Johnson hired as Chief Diversity Officer
Mayor Andrew J. Ginther announced today that Dr. Beverly
Stallings-Johnson will serve as Chief Diversity Officer for the City of Columbus.
Stallings-Johnson currently serves as an Equal Employment Opportunity Officer
with Xerox and is in charge of developing, supporting, executing global
diversity and inclusion compliance strategy and deliverables. She will begin on
February 1, 2020. Damita Brown, who has served as interim director since 2018,
will remain as deputy director of the department.
“I want to thank Damita for her service as interim director
of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and look forward to her continued
expertise,” said Mayor Ginther. “Making sure that city employees and
contractors reflect the rich diversity of our city remains a top priority for
me. Beverly joins our team with a wealth of experience, particularly in human
resources and global diversity and inclusion that will take us to the next
level in continuing to define and achieve our goals for the City of Columbus.”
Stallings-Johnson received her
bachelor of arts in marketing and communications from the University of
Richmond, a masters in management from Loyola Marymount, and a Ph.D. in
organizational effectiveness. She has
been with Xerox since 2004 and has served in multiple roles including Transformation
Director, Senior Leader in Diversity and Inclusion, and Corporate HR Leader in
Inclusion and Intersectionality.
