Hoover Dam CIP
The City of Columbus Department of
Public Utilities is making improvements to the dam at Hoover Reservoir under
the Hoover Dam Improvements Part 1 project. The dam, which is one of several in
the city’s water supply system, is located on the Big Walnut Creek at the south
end of the reservoir. It supplies water to the Hap Cremean Water Plant, which
in turn, provides drinking water to approximately 600,000 customers.
project will make improvements to the dam to maintain a reliable water supply
and extend the life of this critical asset. Work will include replacing dam equipment (gates, valves, piping etc.)
and other systems (electrical, dehumidify etc.). Many of these elements
are original to the dam, built in the 1950s, and are in need of replacement or
repair due to age.
