Council President Congratulates Congresswoman Beatty on Congressional Leadership Position

Congresswoman Joyce Beatty Elected Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus

[COLUMBUS, OH] Council City Council President Shannon G. Hardin proudly acknowledges the achievement of Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, who was elected Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC).

"I am so proud of our Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, who was elected by her peers to serve as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus,” said Hardin. “Congresswoman Beatty will be an unrelenting, proud voice for black families in Columbus and across this country. Since her days in the Ohio House, working to address racism, economic, and health disparities, Beatty's commitment to serving our community has been unwavering. Congratulations, Congresswoman."

The Congressional Black Caucus has been committed to using the full Constitutional power, statutory authority, and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. Since its establishment in 1971, the CBC has fought to empower citizens and address their legislative concerns. Currently, the CBC is comprised of 57 members in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
