Second Barrel Interconnector Project

This project will install 2,300 feet of 104’’ sanitary sewer between the Influent Junction Chamber (IJC) of Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Interconnector Outlet Chamber near the east bank of Scioto River. It also includes rehabilitation of the IJC structure.

The goal of this project is to reduce the flow level in the Interconnector Sewer and mitigate sanitary overflow in the Franklinton Area.

Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2021 and complete by the third quarter, 2022.

No residents will be impacted by the project construction.

Financing for this project is being provided through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund Program with a below market-rate loan. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Sewerage and Drainage to determine the project’s eligibility.
