Rickenbacker Intermodal Sanitary Extension

an aerial view of Rickenbacker

This project will install 6,000 feet of 15’’ - 24’’ sanitary sewer along Rickenbacker Pkwy W from S. Perimeter Road to Thoroughbred Drive. It also includes demolition of the pump station SA-18, located at Rickenbacker Parkway & S. Perimeter Road.

The goal of this project is to eliminate the pump station SA-18 and provide gravity sanitary sewer service to the area for future development.

Construction is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2021 and completed by the third quarter, 2022. Due to the industrial nature of the area, no residents will be impacted by the project construction.

Financing for this project is being provided through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Fund Program with a below market-rate loan. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Sewerage and Drainage to determine the project’s eligibility.

Ohio EPA has issued a Final Finding of No Significant Impact for the City of Columbus, Department of Public Utilities’ Rickenbacker Intermodal Sanitary Extension project (CIP# 650491-100008; WPCLF Loan Number CS390274-0363).  View the Final Finding of No Significant Impact(PDF, 654KB).(PDF, 654KB)
