What:

On April 20, 2021, at 6pm, Columbus City Council President Shannon G. Hardin and Councilmember Rob Dorans will convene the Rules and Reference Committee on the Civilian Police Review Board nominations. Each nominee will have an opportunity to address Council. Council will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from members of the public.

“Seating the City’s first Civilian Police Review Board is an important step towards greater accountability and transparency,” said Council President Hardin. “This hearing is a critical opportunity when Council and members of the public to hear directly from the nominees.”

Any residents who want to provide testimony via WebEx during the virtual hearing must email Legislative Aide Kevin McCain at [email protected] by noon on the day of the hearing to request a WebEx speaker link. Each speaker's remarks are limited to three minutes or less. Residents seeking to submit written testimony can email it to Kevin McCain by 3pm on the day of the hearing.

"The task these folks have in front of them is great and our City’s expectations are high. It is important that the public gets a chance to get to know those who will serve in this historic role that will focuses on building the legitimacy and trust that we need.”

The hearing will be live-streamed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ColsCouncil or on the City's YouTube channel www.youtube.com/user/cityofcolumbus. The video will also be posted on the City of Columbus YouTube channel following the event.
