Edsel Avenue Waterline Improvements Project

The project provides for general rehabilitation of the area distribution system and includes construction of new water mains, abandoning existing water mains, and transferring water service lines in the Edsel Ave area. The project is necessary in order to replace water mains that require repeated regular maintenance (see 4-page map(PDF, 582KB)). The goal of this project is to replace existing 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch water mains that have a high break frequency with new 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch Ductile Iron ones. Replacement of these water mains will improve water service, decrease burden on water maintenance operations, and reduce water loss.

The project will include approximately 11,500 linear feet of water main replacement. The existing water mains range from 48 to 94 years in age. Along with the installation of new water mains, the project will also include new fire hydrant installations and water service transfers. Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2022.

Prior to construction, the Neighborhood Liaisons will be contacted and informed of the project. Further community outreach may result though the Neighborhood Liaison Program. Notification letters will also be mailed out in advance to residents located near the project area. These letters will provide detailed information regarding the project and important contact numbers.

DOW plans to fund this project with a below market-rate loan through the Ohio EPA’s Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) Program. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the DOW to determine the project’s eligibility for the program.
