City of Columbus Opens Search for Permanent Recreation and Parks Director
The City of Columbus and the Recreation and
Parks Commission is accepting applications for a permanent director of the
Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks. Paul Rakosky has been serving as
interim director since 2019.
“I am deeply grateful to Paul and to all of the employees in
Recreation and Parks for consistently going above and beyond in serving our
residents – especially our youth – in such tumultuous times,” said Mayor Andrew
J. Ginther. “Now is the time to press forward and set a clear direction for the
Department.”
Commission President Derrick Clay echoed Mayor Ginther’s
praise of Rakosky. “Paul has had a steady hand at keeping the Department
operating under extremely difficult circumstances. I commend him for his
service to the community.”
The City will be accepting applications
through September 24, 2021. A search committee consisting of members of the
Commission, the Mayor’s Office and Human Resources will review applications and
conduct interviews. The City and Commission hopes to fill the position by the
end of the year.
