South Hampton Road Area Waterline Improvements Project

water line repair This project will be constructed as part of the Division of Water’s (DOW) Replacement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Program. It is located in the Eastmoor/Walnut Ridge & Northeast Community Areas (see map(PDF, 203KB)). The goal of this project is to replace existing 2-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch water mains that have a high break frequency with new 6-inch and 8-inch Ductile Iron ones. Replacement of these water mains will improve water service, decrease burden on water maintenance operations, and reduce water loss.

This project consists of 9,835 lineal feet of 6-in and 8-in ductile iron water main. The existing water mains being replaced range from 62 to 90 years in age and are either cast iron or galvanized steel. Fire hydrant replacement and customer water service transfers are also part of this project.

Prior to construction, the Neighborhood Liaisons will be contacted and informed of the project. Further community outreach may result though the Neighborhood Liaison Program. Notification letters will also be mailed out in advance to residents located near the project area. These letters will provide detailed information regarding the project and important contact numbers.

DOW plans to fund this project with a below market-rate loan through the Ohio EPA’s Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA) Program. Prior to granting this loan, the Ohio EPA required a detailed submittal from the Division of Water to determine the project’s eligibility for the program.
