Pedestrian Safety – SRTS – Summit Street Bump-outs
DESCRIPTION
AND BENEFITS:
This project originated from the Columbus
School Travel Plan and is funded in part by Federal Safe Routes to School
funds. This project will construct two pairs of bump-outs on Summit Street,
which is a priority corridor for Weinland Park Elementary School. The first
pair will be located at the intersection of Summit Street and 8th Avenue, just
north of the offset, east leg of the intersection. The second pair will be
located at the intersection of Summit Street and 3rd Avenue, across the south
leg of the intersection. Both locations will include Type II crosswalks and
additional signage, including overhead signage. The new Type II crosswalk at
the intersection of Summit Street and 3rd Avenue location will also include
Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacons (RRFBs)

Right-of-way acquisition: None Anticipated
Construction: Summer 2023 – Late 2023, subject to funding approval by City
Council and weather conditions

Construction: $300,000 (Includes $177,569 in ODOT Safe Routes to School funding)
