Ms. Hill joined Homeport
in 1990 and has served as Senior Vice President of Community & Government Relations
since 2016. In that capacity she coordinates and implements external and internal
relationships. She develops and manages relationships with federal, state,
county and local governments to create and advocate policy for affordable
housing. She facilitates important communication and appropriate responses on
all proposed and pending legislation. She serves as liaison in all community
affairs initiatives with area commissions, civic associations and other
community groups to promote awareness for the best result/impact on housing
issues.
Ms. Hill has a
wealth of political experience that she utilizes in her role at Homeport. She
is an invaluable consultant to Homeport development staff, providing a unique
insight into the public and private partnerships, government affairs and the
many local area commissions. Her understanding of the community also
facilitates networking opportunities for Homeport with social service and other
grassroot community organizations. She monitors updated regulation on lending
institutions under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). She collaborates with
faith leaders, as well as community and human service organizations. She
assists the Real Estate Development department in the development of low-to-moderate
income rental housing and homeownership. She minimizes roadblocks which might delay
the timely completion of projects. Ms. Hill helps the Real Estate Development
Department in tax credit applications by gaining critical support and letters
from government, community and social service entities. She is a master of
leveraging support necessary for gap financing. Fund-raising is an important
part of her work. From 2015 to 2019 she oversaw and helped secure more than $8
million for Homeport through grants and private donations.
Ms. Hill has been
an agent of human service, public safety and social change for over four
decades. From 2019-2021 she served on the Governor’s Lead Advisory Committee
that produced a 21-recommendations report to protect Ohio’s children. Her
statewide commitment began in the 1980s when she worked for the Governor’s
Office for Recovery Services. She also was an advisor to then First Lady Dagmar
Celeste on social and cultural issues. Prior to that, Ms. Hill was employed as
a Police Community Relations Representative for the City of Cleveland Community
Relations Board and as a case manager for the Cuyahoga County Department of
Human Services.
Currently, Ms.
Hill is a member of the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, advisory board
member of Greater Community Columbus Helping Hands, Inc., and a member of the Human
Services Chamber of Franklin County and the Affordable Housing Alliance of
Central Ohio. She serves as Chair of the IMPACT Community Action Agency Board
of Directors. Other boards she serves on include Move to Prosper and Multiethnic
Advocates for Cultural Competence. She also serves on the Baptist Ministers
Wives and Widowers Alliance of Columbus.
Other volunteer board
memberships she has experienced over the decades include the Renaissance
Community Development Corporation, Urban Minority Alcoholism Outreach Program,
The Huntington Community Advisory Board, the Coalition of Homelessness and
Housing in Ohio Advisory Board, the Columbus Apartment Association Crime
Reduction Commission and the Freddie Mac Advisory Board for Dispel the Myth.
