City Hall to Illuminate Red for Sickle Cell Awareness Month

What:
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited blood disorder in which red blood cells may become sickle-shaped and harden. SCD contributes to many other health issues, including kidney disease and stroke. As of now, there is no universal cure. Councilmember Bankston will honor two community members for their work to further research for a cure and advocating on behalf of those battling sickle cell silently.
