CRISP Account Logon Validation FAQs

• Why do I need to validate my account?
  CRISP contains highly sensitive taxpayer information. Account validation serves as an enhanced security measure to protect taxpayers and the city from identity theft and fraud. 
• What information do I need to access and validate my account?
  You must have the letter ID and be able to verify specific tax information from your return. 
• What is a letter ID?
  Existing Columbus taxpayers has been sent via postal mail a letter that contains a unique identification number (letter ID) that is required to validate your CRISP account. For security measures, this letter has been mailed to the taxpayer address that the Division has on file. 
• Can someone email me the letter?
  For security reasons, the letter can only be sent through the US postal service.
• Why have I not received a letter with a letter ID?
  Please contact the CRISP Help Desk at (614) 645-8899.
• Why did I receive an error when trying to validate my account?
  This is likely the result of your most recent tax return not being processed in the system yet. Please try using an older return. Additionally, you must use a non-zero amount from your return for verification purposes even if one of your last payments, refunds, or return amounts was zero. 
• I am locked out of CRISP. How long before my account unlocks?
  Please wait 15 minutes before trying to access your account again. 
• I have my letter ID and have tried using information from one of my last three tax returns, but I am still unable to access my account. Can someone assist me?
