The week of October 31 will be a busy one with three public hearings inside Council Chambers. We will get updates on the right response unit, discuss the budget for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Grants, and review current policies regarding noise and food carts.

What:
President Pro Tem Elizabeth Brown, chair of the Finance Committee, is hosting a public hearing on the budget for the 2023 Annual Action Plan. The budget is made up of four Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants: the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).

“These critical federal dollars provided by HUD are designed to meet the needs of our community equitably,” said President Pro Tem Brown. “Our hearing and the public comment period are important opportunities for residents to provide feedback on how the dollars can have the greatest impact in Columbus neighborhoods.”

Any resident wishing to provide public testimony or appear via WebEx to during the hearing should email Tigist Zemene at [email protected] by 12:00PM on the day of the hearing to request a WebEx link. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes.

Written testimony should submitted to Tigist Zemene by 3:00pm on the day of the hearing.

Council strongly encourages residents and businesses to sign up for written or verbal testimony.
