Every year, Thanksgiving offers a
special moment to pause and celebrate the blessings in our lives. For me,
faith, family and community stand out as extraordinary forces for good, with
limitless capacity to uplift and inspire. I am grateful for their impact on my
life and the hope they instill in others. At the root of these qualities,
however, is the power of connection to bring about meaningful change. And it is
through our connection with one another that we will build a bright, prosperous
and equitable future for everyone who calls Columbus home.
To believe this decade will prove to
be our most transformative is no exaggeration. What we do now will determine our
course for generations to come. I view this not as a challenge but as an
opportunity – an opportunity to break down barriers, build bridges of trust and
understanding, and reach our full potential by ensuring that every family
shares in our collective success. This is the task of our times, and I have
every confidence we will rise to meet it.
Columbus is an amazing place, and our
greatest asset is our residents. Our neighbors and their courage have lifted me
up more times than I ever thought possible. I am thankful to you for being
there for me, and for each other, when it matters most, and I promise to always
do the same for you. It is a spirit of kindness and collaboration that propels
this city forward, and with the momentum we are gaining across so many fronts,
I am excited to see all we will accomplish, together.
