Applications Open for Columbus Youth Council Program

[COLUMBUS, OH] Council is accepting applications for the 2023 Columbus Youth Council (CYC) program. The program gives select Columbus high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn about city government, and how they can become stewards in their community.

Students participating in the program will receive professional development and lessons dealing with topics such as the structure of city government, economic development, how municipalities function, and much more.
“It’s so important for our young people to have outlets where they can positively interact with one another and make the change they want to see in their community," says Councilmember Shayla Favor.
During their term, students will:
- Gain a greater understanding of city government and how local leaders make a difference.
- Enhance civic engagement and local leadership skills
- Earn hours toward their high school volunteer commitment
- Receive special recognition from the City of Columbus for their participation in the program
- Receive iPads in recognition of their completion of the program
The 2023 cohort will consist of juniors and seniors from various Columbus City Schools. Applications are due by Monday, January 2, 2023.
