McKinley is a (6.95 acre) park that was acquired by the City of Columbus in 1929. The site featured temporary war-time housing from 1947 through 1960. (Removed sometime around 1963.) The remainder of park was used as playground for residents during this time, with a wading pool, a basketball hoop, a softball field, and a badminton court. After the war-time housing was removed, the parking for the housing remained. Additional baseball fields were added, along with expanded play area. Unfortunately, the wading pool was removed in 1970's as well. However a stone shelter was constructed in 1970.
