Two Great Stories About The Columbus Economy

(Columbus)—The City of Columbus’ economic strength and vitality are highlighted in two recent publications that indicate our community is well positioned for growth in the future.   A New York Times Magazine story examined many factors that have created the current positive economic climate in Columbus and around the state.  Much of the article was devoted to outlining the extraordinary measures Columbus leaders, including Mayor Coleman, have taken to expand our economic base.

“Columbus is a special place thanks to bold and decisive leadership and that includes the partnership with those in the business and social service communities,” said Columbus City Council President Andrew J. Ginther.  “Because of Mayor Coleman, Auditor Dorrian, and this City Council, we have been able to grow our economy and protect the quality of life in our neighborhoods without sacrificing critical safety services.”

A second article, published by  Business First , reports on a survey conducted by American City Business Journals that ranks Columbus seventh in the nation for economic strength and pegs Columbus as the strongest economy in Ohio.  Those doing the survey examined 18 factors “including private-sector job growth, unemployment and housing price appreciation”.
