Councilmember Paley Recognizes Residents, Businesses for
Green Efforts
(Columbus)—Columbus City Councilmember Eileen Y. Paley,
chair of the Public Service & Transportation Committee, joined Mayor
Michael B. Coleman to congratulate the 2013 GreenSpotLight award winners during
a ceremony at the Franklin Park Conservatory. The awards recognize individuals and groups that work to make Columbus
an environmentally friendly and sustainable community.
“I am so proud of these award winners who are providing
simple examples of how we can all do our part to ‘green’ Columbus,” said
Councilmember Paley. “The GreenSpot
program, started by Mayor Coleman, helps to educate and motivate our residents
to do everything they can to improve our community.”
In addition to the GreenSpot awards, the City also
recognized 12 new businesses that were part of
the inaugural GreenSpot Corporate Sustainability Initiative. Councilmember Paley presented each group
with a certificate honoring their commitment to bettering our environment.
GreenSpot is the primary program used by the City of
Columbus to engage residents, businesses and community groups on topics of
sustainability. The voluntary program
began in 2008 has grown to more than 5,200 members.
