Councilmember Mills to Receive Two Community
Honors This Week
(Columbus)--Columbus
City Councilmember Michelle M. Mills is receiving two community honors this
week.
On Wednesday, Mills, the City Council’s Public
Safety and Judiciary Committee chair, will be named one of the YWCA’s
Women of Achievement for 2013. Mills is being recognized for
her work not only on City Council, but for her many years of dedication to
improving the lives of Columbus residents through her work at St. Stephen’s
Community House and other social service organizations. The YWCA
Women of Achievement Award presentation is taking place at the Greater Columbus
Convention Center Battelle Grand Ballroom from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
“I am humbled to be included in this amazingly
talented and energetic group of women,” said Mills. “We all work and
volunteer in this community because we love Columbus, and not for the
recognition we may receive. I hope the examples of service being
honored by the YWCA are an inspiration for others to make their neighborhoods
better places for families.”
And on Thursday, Councilmember Mills will be
named the Public Official of the Year by the Ohio
Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers Region 5. That
awards ceremony is taking place from 6pm to 8pm at Life Care Alliance, 670
Harmon Avenue, and again recognizes her efforts to enrich the lives of our
community’s most vulnerable residents.
