Leaders Break Ground for Karl Road Improvements Project
Northland area neighborhood leaders joined Mayor Michael B.
Coleman and City Councilmember Eileen Y. Paley to break ground on the Karl Road
improvements project between State Route 161 and Schrock Road today. The
project will include a full reconstruction of that segment of Karl Road.

“We are investing in a brand new Karl Road between 161 and
Schrock Road, rebuilding it right down to its base,” Mayor Coleman said. “This
will make for a safer and more attractive street for families in the Northland
area.”
In addition to reconstruction of the roadway, the project
will build new sidewalks, curbs, gutters and curb ramps that will replace the
street’s current sidewalks, curbs, gutters and curb ramps. The project will also upgrade the traffic
signals at Karl Road and Schrock Road, add street lighting and improve storm
sewers and some water lines along Karl Road between S.R. 161 and Schrock Road.
“This is one of many projects around Columbus that will be
started this construction season that will help make our community a better
place to live and work,” said Councilmember Paley, chair of the Public Service
and Transportation Committee. “In
addition to the new roadway, new sidewalks will help promote a walkable,
healthy Columbus.”
The cost of the project will be $4.7 million. It is
scheduled to be completed by late fall, weather permitting.
"This is an important investment in the Northland
Community,” said Northland Community Council President Emmanuel Remy. “We thank the mayor, Councilmember Paley and
all of City Council for their initiative in getting this arterial improvement
started. This will mean safer streets
and a major improvement to the look of the Northland Community."
