The National Association of Fleet Administrators has honored the Columbus Division of Fleet Management as the No. 1 fleet operation in North America in its 2013 100 Best Fleets rankings. Columbus was chosen from more than more than 38,000 public fleets in North America. Columbus was ranked as the greenest fleet in North America in 2011.

“This is a well-deserved honor for our Division of Fleet Management, which has made enormous strides to become green, efficient and effective,” Mayor Michael B. Coleman said. “We already were recognized as the greenest fleet in North America, and today we are recognized as the best. Congratulations to all the men and women in Fleet Management who made this honor possible.”

The National Association of Fleet Administrators’ ranking was based on nine criteria used to measure the performance of a public fleet. The criteria included accountability; use of technology and information; evidence of a high-trust culture; performance recognition; collaboration creativity; celebration; doing it right the first time; quick and efficient turnaround and competitive pricing; and staff development and resource stewardship.

“The Fleet Management Division is constantly working to ensure that our team of men and women is the one of most highly trained and skilled in North America,” said Councilmember Priscilla R. Tyson, chair of the Finance Committee. “All of Columbus can be proud of their impressive accomplishments.”

For the seventh year Columbus remains the largest ASE Blue Seal-certified public entity in the nation. Columbus is a pioneer in the safe, cost effective use of Compressed Natural Gas and in technological efficiencies. Columbus fleet employees are dedicated to their vocations. The division excels because all employees do their part.
