All potential bidders (primes) on construction contracts estimated to
exceed $500,000.
b.)
All licensed construction trade subcontractors seeking to perform any portion
of work on city construction service work when the full contract is estimated
to exceed $500,000.
Licensed
construction trade subcontractors are as follows:
- Heating
- Ventilating
- Air conditioning
- Refrigeration
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Hydronics
- Fire protection or fire equipment
2. Who
may receive or perform construction service work?
For
construction contracts estimated to exceed $500,000, only potential bidders
prequalified responsible or prequalified provisionally responsible by bid due
date may be awarded a contract. For these contracts estimated to exceed
$500,000, only licensed construction trade subcontractors prequalified
responsible or prequalified provisionally responsible by bid due date may subcontract
or perform.
3. When
do I need to apply for prequalification?
Prequalification applications are accepted all year.
Returning applicants should refer to their Prequalified Certificate, List
of Prequalified Business Entities, or contact the Office regarding when to
re-apply.
4. How
long will the prequalification process take?
The
Office of Construction Prequalification will make a decision on
prequalification within thirty (30) calendar days of receipt of a complete
prequalification application. Any omitted information may delay the
processing time.
5. Where
and how do I apply for prequalification?
All potential bidders and all licensed construction trade
subcontractors seeking to perform any portion of work on city construction
service work must submit to the Office of Construction Prequalification a full
and complete application for responsibility prequalification. A construction
prequalification applications can be submitted via fax or email. No hard
copies of the application or supplemental documentation will be accepted.

responsibility prequalification on a bi-annual basis.
