Dates Announced for Councilmember Page’s Summer Reading Program
Friday is the kick off for Columbus City Councilmember Jaiza Page’s Page by Page Summer Reading
Challenge, which will encourage kids to maintain their reading skills and limit learning loss during the summer months.
The first Summer Reading Challenge event will be held Friday, July 10, at 12:30 p.m. at the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Hilltop branch, 511 S. Hague Ave., Columbus. Councilmember Page and other civic leaders will be reading with the children at these and
other events.
The remaining events include:
- Friday, July 17, 1-2 p.m., Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Linden Branch, 2223 Cleveland Ave.
- Friday, July 24, 3-4 p.m., Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Shepard Branch, 790 N. Nelson Rd.
Registration is now open at Columbus Public Library locations or participants can create a team of ten readers wherever kids are spending time this summer.
“Reading encourages creativity and sparks the
imagination,” said Councilmember Page, who chairs the Education Committee as
well as the Recreation and Parks Committee. “I look forward to engaging
Columbus families as children discover new books or revisit family favorites.”
The Page by Page Summer Reading Challenge ends July 30.
