Klein Elected Council President; Tyson Elected Council President Pro Tem

Columbus City Councilmembers on Monday selected Councilmember Zach Klein as the body’s new council president and Councilmember Priscilla R. Tyson as council president pro tem.

“I am honored and humbled by the confidence my fellow councilmembers have placed in me to lead this body,” said Council President Klein. “I am particularly excited to team up with President Pro Tem Tyson to offer thoughtful, deliberative and progressive-minded leadership. I also look forward to working with Mayor Andrew J. Ginther on behalf of all Columbus residents.”

“I look forward to working with President Klein, my council colleagues, and Mayor Ginther as we focus on creating job opportunities, safe neighborhoods and enhancing the quality of life for all Columbus residents," said Council President Pro Tem Tyson.

According to the City Charter, the president of council presides at meetings of council and determines the meeting agendas as well as appoints the chair and members of council committees.

The president pro tem, according to the Charter, acts as the presiding officer of council in the absence of the council president.
