Dear Friends of
Preservation,
Yesterday, the Ohio Senate
proposed a two-year suspension of the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit, among other
changes to the 2015-2017 State Budget. This
suspension would be devastating for revitalization efforts and historic
preservation throughout the state.
In Columbus, the following
important preservation projects have benefited or are currently benefiting
from Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits: The
LeVeque Tower, The
Atlas Building, YWCA, Cristo Rey Columbus High
School, The
Julian, Grant
Commons, and Victorian
Heritage, among others.
Please email the Ohio
Senate Finance Committee TODAY to express opposition to the suspension of
the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit. Emails should be directed to [email protected] (Kim Erdman) and
will be distributed to all Ohio Senate Finance Committee
Members.
All
State Historic Preservation Tax Credits that are not completed and
certified by July 1, 2015 are in danger, as well as any applications for
projects that are pending. The Senate Finance Committee is holding hearings
on the budget today and tomorrow in the Finance Hearing Room. Senator Scott
Oelslager is chair of the Finance Committee. His phone number is
614-466-0626. Here is the link to the Senate Finance Committee members if
you wish to contact members directly: http://www.ohiosenate.gov/committee/finance
Thank you for your support of historic preservation.
Best,
Ed Lentz
