Councilmember Page Announces Summer Reading Program

I would like to invite you to participate with me and the Columbus Metropolitan Library in the Page by Page Summer Reading Challenge! This is an initiative to encourage our children to read during the summer months. Studies have shown that children who continue to read during the summer months are more prepared and motivated the following school year. That is why I am asking you to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge and become a Page by Page Host Site!
The challenge will start on July 6th and end on July 30th. It is very easy to become a host site. Simply sign-up at least 10 children but no more than 14 children for a reading group and encourage the children to read during the month of July! You may sign-up multiple groups if you have more children who are interested. There will be two groups, ages 3-10 and 11-18. You may sign up your entire group at your local Columbus Metropolitan Library branch as a part of the library’s Summer Reading program. If you are not able to sign up your group at your local library, I ask that you use the enclosed log to track the total minutes read by each child at your site. At the end of the challenge period the sites with the most minutes read per child, within the two age groups, will have a pizza and ice cream party that I will host at your site on July 31, 2015.
