Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is prepared and presented by the Columbus City Auditor, statutorily described as the City's chief accounting officer. The Annual
Financial Report includes the City’s financial position and results of operations, as well as demographic and statistical information to help the reader understand the financial condition of the City for each fiscal year ending on December 31st.
Additionally, Ohio law requires that all public entities undergo an annual financial audit. The financial statements have been verified by an independent, external auditor as required by law and in order to ensure the financial statements fairly present the financial position of the City of Columbus.
This report fulfills these duties and is distributed by the City Auditor's Office to approximately 100 recipients, including civic associations, banks, brokers, rating agencies, schools, libraries, university students, and city, state, and federal officials.
All City of Columbus Annual
Financial Reports from 2001 forward are available in Portable Document Format (PDF) format for viewing online. To download and view, please select the Annual
Financial Report for desired fiscal year from the list.
The 2020 report is subject to review and acceptance by the
Auditor of State’s office, and the requirements of Ohio Revised Code § 117.25
are not met until the Auditor of State certifies this report. This process will
be completed by the Auditor of State in a reasonable timeframe and reports are
subject to change if the Auditor of State determines that modification of a
report is necessary to comply with required accounting or auditing standards or
Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements
for Federal Awards.
