March 2023 - Infant Mortality Rate Declines There was much to celebrate in the end-of-year data report. A total of 2,096 cribs were distributed in Franklin County last year, exceeding the goal of 1,700.

November 2022 - November is National Prematurity Awareness Month Premature birth occurs before 37 weeks of pregnancy and it is the number one cause of infant deaths in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, almost 400,000 babies are born premature each year.

In 2021, Columbus Public Health reported 17,366 babies were born and almost 2,000 were premature.

October 2022 - Raising Awareness about Infant Safe-Sleep Practices October is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month. Approximately 3,500 infants die annually in the United States from sleep-related infant deaths.

September 2022 - Infant Mortality Awareness Month Celebrating a child’s first birthday is a milestone that many parents look forward to, but for some, that day never comes.

In 2021, Columbus Public Health reported 17,362 babies born in Franklin County. There were a total of 138 infant deaths. In 2020, a total of 17,498 babies were born with a total of 118 infant deaths.
