Council President Shannon G. Hardin Named to National League of Cities Board of Directors
[COLUMBUS, OH] - Last week, Columbus City
Council President Shannon G. Hardin
was elected to the National League of Cities (NLC)
Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the National League of Cities
at its annual business meeting during the 2019 City Summit in San Antonio,
Texas.
President Hardin was elected to a two-year term and will play an essential role
as a leader of the nation’s largest membership and advocacy organization for
city officials. Hardin will also continue his service on the NLC's 2020
Presidential Election Task Force.
“I am honored to serve and represent the citizens of Columbus in
this capacity,” said Hardin. “The
National League of Cities is not only the voice of American cities in
Washington, but a hub of best practices and policy solutions. I look forward to
taking the Columbus perspective to the NLC board and bringing home new policy
ideas for Columbus.”
The National League of
Cities advocates on behalf of local governments and state municipal
leagues. The organization is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of local
governance and advocating the interests of local communities. Member cities
actively participate as leaders and voting members in the organization.
