COTA New AirConnect Bus Line Takes Flight

Innovative Bus Service Transports Riders Downtown and Port Columbus International Airport for $2.75

[COLUMBUS, OH] - Stop. No need to coordinate transportation, download an app or find a taxi. The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) implemented a new dedicated line that provides service between Downtown and Port Columbus International Airport seven-days-a-week for $2.75 each way.

The line is called AirConnect and Councilmembers Shannon Hardin and Mitchell J. Brown joined COTA and the Columbus Regional Airport Authority to welcome more than 100 elected officials, business and community leaders for the celebratory ride on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

“I applaud COTA for keeping the pedal to the metal and keeping Columbus moving creating a world class transportation system,” said Councilmember Hardin.

COTA AirConnect began operating on Monday, May 2, 2016. The service arrives at designated stops in Downtown and at the airport every 30 minutes between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week. The route travels through Downtown to pick up passengers, with a focus on servicing hotels and the convention center. When COTA AirConnect arrives at the airport, the bus drops passengers off at Departures and picks new passengers up at Arrivals.

“Adding this direct route is just one of the many steps we are taking to make our public transportation smarter,” Hardin continued.

COTA AirConnect buses are specially branded and easily recognized. On-board features include luggage racks and USB charging ports.

“We’re pleased to launch COTA AirConnect service, making it more convenient for central Ohio residents and visitors to travel to and from Port Columbus International Airport,” said W. Curtis Stitt, COTA President/CEO. “COTA is focused on how we can help this community achieve its goals.”

A one-way COTA AirConnect trip costs only $2.75. Tickets may be purchased at COTA ticket vending machines in Downtown and at the COTA shelter on the Arrivals level at the airport. Passengers may also pay with exact change when boarding the bus.
