Councilmember Jaiza Page Visits Potential Zoning Site

[COLUMBUS, OH] – Building on the precedent of connecting with residents, developers and elected officials throughout the zoning process, Councilmembers Jaiza Page, Elizabeth Brown, Shannon G. Hardin and Michael Stinziano, will visit 5830 Ulry Road on Tuesday, March 22.  The proposal coming to Council is for potential development of 244 apartment units on 22.33± acres, 120 attached or detached single unit dwellings on 24.98± acres, and 18.33± acres of open space, all in the PUD-8, Planned Unit Development District, and a 100-unit assisted living facility on 10.03± acres in the L-I, Limited Institutional District.

Opening remarks will be given by Councilmember Page and City staff at the Asherton Grove Clubhouse, 5899 Asherton Rd, at 2pm, followed by a tour of the site at 2:30pm.  The Northland Community Council and attorney for the developer Jill Tangeman will speak as well.

“I'm excited about beginning onsite visits. They will provide more perspective as we make decisions on future development across our city,” said Page.

All interested citizens are invited to offer public testimony.  Comments will be limited to two minutes, and individuals must fill out a speaker slip no later than noon at Columbus City Hall or at the site between 2:30-3pm on the day of the hearing.

“Council is passionate about the growth of Columbus, but we want to grow responsibly and with resident input,” she continued.

As chair of the Zoning committee, Page is continuing efforts to make the zoning process accessible to every resident.   In addition to new site visits, Council created a presentation in 2011 to better educate residents about the zoning process, timelines and decision that affect land usage in Columbus.   Click here for “Zoning 101” information.
